The Los Angeles County Branch was formed in 1981 and is affiliated with the International Dyslexia Association and is a member of the Southern California Consortium of the International Dyslexia Association, all of which are non-profit 501C-3 organizations, promoting the scientific and educational research into the study and treatment of the specific learning disability, dyslexia.

The Los Angeles County Branch of the International Dyslexia Association is comprised of professionals, parents, and adults with dyslexia interested in promoting and increasing public awareness, treatment, and remediation of dyslexia and other related learning disabilities. Public awareness is accomplished through workshops, seminars, conferences, informational packets, and a speaker’s bureau.

The creativity and human potential of the dyslexic individual is often lost due to frustration, lack of information, and insufficient resources. It is the mission of the Los Angeles County Branch of the International Dyslexia Association to provide solutions, opportunities and information in order to enable individuals with dyslexia to reach their potential as creative and contributing members of the community.

The Los Angeles County Branch of the International Dyslexia Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to stimulate awareness and understanding of dyslexia in Southern California, to establish and promote the treatment of dyslexia and to give support to dyslexics and their families. Our purpose is accomplished through many free or low cost community programs by a group of hardworking volunteers.
