Linda Nguyen Hoang is a Literacy Interventionist for Los Angeles Unified School District.  She grew up in Orange County and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a specialization in Diversified Liberal Arts from University of California Los Angeles.  She also holds three Masters Degrees, two from Loyola Marymount University in Special Education and School Administration and one from Alliant University in Multiple Subjects.  She was a special education teacher for 17 years spanning K-12 in mild/moderate settings ranging from Resource Services to Specialized classrooms and programs before becoming a Reading Specialist and certified Dyslexia Practitioner coaching and training teachers and educators.  As a special education teacher, she saw the same reading need over and over again, “If only my students could read, they wouldn’t need all these services…” Her inability to meet the literacy needs of her students finally came to a breaking point when she taught high school and 16-18 year olds who struggled to read. At that point, Linda finally decided that she would rather teach 6 year olds than 16 year olds who couldn’t read.  Becoming a Reading Specialist stems from her passion as a special education teacher. She would rather prevent students from having reading difficulties than intervene because they have reading difficulties, thus began her journey into the world of dyslexia. In her free time, there actually isn’t any!  But in an ideal world, Linda would love to just spend time with her two children, husband and puppy on the couch watching a chic flick that she gets to pick and indulge in without any complaints…a gal can dream!
