Past Projects Funded

  • A district-level Title 1 program...

designed to support early literacy intervention in schools where a disproportionate number of students are reading below grade level, used IDALA grant funding to purchase the LETRS® (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) online professional development series for 15 early literacy teacher leaders. These teacher leaders will support the delivery and integration of Structured Literacy instruction at school sites across the district.

  • A K-8 school with a focus on biliteracy...

in English and Spanish and a two-way immersion program used IDALA grant funds to bring two evidence-based reading programs to their school: Esperanza, a Spanish language Orton-Gillingham-based program, and the Wilson Language Program. This school also used grant funding to run parent education workshops on these programs.

  • A K-5 school...

used IDALA grant funds to purchase licenses to the Lexia Core 5 Program, CPen Reader Pens, and 95% Group Phonological Awareness Packages, which they embedded into an existing schedule that allows teachers to provide small group, skill-based reading instruction to their K-2 students.

  • A K-6 school...

utilized IDALA grant funds over two school years to reinforce its existing small group reading instruction in grades K-2 with 95% Group and Heggerty materials, as well as 95% Group online lessons for all K-2 teachers. To ensure that teachers have a strong foundation in Structured Literacy, the school is also using IDALA grant funds to send 3 teachers to Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator training during their first year, and to send an additional 4 teachers to that training during their second grant year.
